Dvora created the original painting, in response to the events of October 7th, 2023. Dvora expresses the hope that her seven-branch Temple menorah will bring some solace, since light banishes darkness and the associated chaos and evil in the world.
The biblical quotation at the base of the picture “Va’yehi Or”, alluding to the Divine creation of light in the world, is taken from Genisis 1vs.3:
"Let there be light,
And there was light."
The windows in the original Temple were designed with openings that broadened outwards so that the light of the menorah could be seen from the streets of Jerusalem spreading its aura of light. This lit menorah brings light and hope for a better future, a beautiful and inspiring gift for every home.
